So Ammon wanted Grandma Session's couch that matches the arm chair we already had. The only problem was that the couch was in Idaho with Aunt Ivy. Ammon and I left on Friday night and drove most of the night to St. George. On Saturday we hung out with Grandma and Grandpa Burtenshaw and bought some antique books. On Sunday we traveled to Provo with a stop at Cove Fort. Cove Fort is the place that President Hinckley's ancestors built and maintained for many years during the early history of the Church. Missionaries now run it with guided tours every day. Ammon and I really enjoyed it! We got to stay with Sean and his fun roommates on Sunday night. Monday morning we walked to the Provo temple and took pictures to add to our "Temple Wall" we will some day have. We walked around the Bean Science Museum and ran into Kirsten Nordstrom (new last name now that she's married with two kids) and got to catch up a bit. Ammon and I then met Sean for lunch at the Creamery on 9th and left in search of more temple photos.
By the way, Monday is a great day to get photos of temples because most of them are closed for cleaning. The gates are open but there are not a lot of people around. Ammon and I then found the Mt. Timpanogos Temple, the Draper Temple, the Oquirrh Mountain Temple and the Jordan River Temple. Finally, we left the Salt Lake Valley at about 7pm and drove the 3 hours to Idaho Falls. Aunt Ivy spent the day with us on Tuesday. We went to the Museum of Idaho where there is an exhibit about Leonardo daVinci. I gathered many ideas for math lessons! After some time with da Vinci, we walked along the Snake river and took lots of pictures. We even stopped for food at my restaurant, Shari's. They pronounce it wrong, but it was still fun to see the look on the face of the waitress when I handed her my debit card. Priceless!
Finally we get to Wednesday morning. Ivy took this day off of work as well and helped us load everything into the truck. It all fit! Unfortunately, we forgot to take a picture of the bundle in the back of the truck. We drove from Ivy's to St. George on Wednesday and from St. George to Mesa on Thursday. Each drive took us about 8 hours. Each drive was met with good weather and little traffic. There was the occasional accident or semi trying to pass another semi or sports car driving 10 miles an hour less than the speed limit, but other than that, the drive was smooth!
Once we get our house cleaned up from decorating for Halloween I'll add a picture of the couch. Until then, enjoy these pictures.
View of Salt Lake from the freeway. If you look REALLY closely, you can see a few of the spires of the temple in SLC. (above the white car's tail lights)

Awesome pictures! The ones of the Idaho Falls Temple are amazing! I'm impressed you blogged about your trip so soon! Good job!
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Too bad you didn't have time to drive to Rexburg to get a picture of that temple. Looks like a fun trip.
