It's that time of year...again!

It's hard to believe that Easter has come again, which means it's been a year since I was in Easter Pageant. It also means that I am without a husband for 3 weeks. Ammon is doing Easter Pageant again this year. This is year #5 for him. I decided not to because of the crazy amount of work I have to do in order to teach my students this year.

Two years ago the directors decided they wanted Ammon and his angel buddy in wigs, which I don't have any pictures of because I was laughing so hard that I forgot about my camera. They looked like Starsky and Hutch (mispelled?). Anyway, so this year, they decided that they wanted both angels to be blonde with straight hair. I wasn't at this dress rehearsal, but Ammon told me about the scene his blonde wig caused. He and Derrick (his angel buddy, same from last year) were changing into their angel costumes after the Triumphal Entry scene and they were told by some of the crew to go tot he make-up tent when they were changed. Ammon gets there thinking they needed to touch up his make-up and is surprised when they start pinning up his long (shoulder length) curly hair and fitting a wig on him. Ammon wasn't too sure about the look, but he's really good about doing what the directors ask, so he just went with it.

When Ammon got on stage for his short scene, the bright lights came up on him and Derrick and Mary Magdalene (I don't know her real name) was so shocked at the difference in Ammon's look that she started laughing. She was laughing so hard that she could not say any of her lines. Ammon and Derrick leave the stage and Jeff (one of directors who was playing understudy for Tyler who was playing Christ) appears to Mary. Mary starts apologizing to Jeff (director). She was so shocked she couldn't contain herself.

I was so bummed out that I did not get to see this happen! But wait, there's more! The make-up/hair person in charge of pageant was there from Salt Lake to make sure everything was to his liking. Side Note: This person, Carl, also did the wigs and hair for the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, which is way cool! It also means that he knows what he's talking about. Anyway, so before every performance there is a cast devotional in the church building just south of the temple parking lot. Ammon gets told that Carl wants to see him in make-up before he goes backstage, after devotional. Carl decided that the wig was a bad idea (thank goodness) and they told him that his hair was too long; it looked like a mullet from the audience. CARL CUT HIS HAIR!! I'm glad they didn't dye it, but his lovely long locks are gone! Ammon's hair still looks good, but I was sad to hear that they cut it, just like that. Oh well, can't control everything! The following video was taken the night they cut his hair. As a family we all went to Easter Pageant on the public invited dress rehearsal night, Tuesday. Alene, TJ, Amber, Grandma Sessions, Amy and I all went. It was fun!

I had been on the phone with Ammon, so I knew he would have shorter hair. I'm sad that the lady two rows in front of me had big hair, it gets in the way of my video and I didn't get the entire scene, but I did get Ammon and his debut of his new hair cut. I've also added pictures of the angels, they are my favorite.
