Small Miracles

Today's events included a small miracle.  I say this because if I had been doing what I had planned, I think I would have had a break down!

Story:

Glen went down for a nap at 2pm.  Me: "Great! Now I can go to the store and get the bra so I can pump and not need to hold the bottles."

As I was getting ready to leave, I realized I should also finish getting the Christmas Cards ready to send and drop those at the post office, oh yeah, and I should finish wrapping a gift I need to mail, put it in a box and mail it, since I'm going to the post office...(feels a bit like, "If you give a Mouse a Cookie").

I worked and worked and 45 minutes later, I had finished the large stack of letters but still had a little stack that needed some extra TLC.  Glen decided to wake up.  I figured he was just being fussy, but when I picked him up, he smelled like he needed a diaper change.  So I took him to the changing table and took off his pants to check his diaper.  WHOA! No further checking needed!! The cottage cheese looking goop was all over EVERYTHING!! It had leaked through the side and front of the diaper but the back of his diaper showed signs of pee leakage, which was a bit confusing, but whatever! So I tried to get up most of the goop that was on his legs so I wouldn't spread it everywhere as I undressed him.  It wasn't working.  I resigned myself to messiness.

As soon as I got that through my head, I decided to forget trying to clean and put the kid in the bath.  Cleaning up from a blow out has usually been a two person job, so it was interesting to try to hold the baby, take off the dirty clothes and diaper and get the bath warm, all with just my two little hands.  Glen was glad when the water finally warmed up and he got clean! He loves the bath! The next post will prove it.

After his bath I fed and clothed him.  I thought he would go to sleep, but he didn't! As I was burping him I heard the very well-known sounds of baby filling diaper...AGAIN! So I changed his diaper AGAIN and was very glad that he had not blown out of it this time!

Then I fed Glen again and held him REALLY close and tight and he started to fall asleep.  It wasn't until I put him in his swing that he fell asleep! Thank you Mommy Debbie for getting him a swing! Best invention ever!

So, as you can see, a small miracles occurred today.  If I had been out running errands, I would have had to either try to get home QUICK and do everything I described above or I would have tried to change him while I was out...that could have been interesting.  I do carry a change of clothes in the diaper bag, but being home just made the clean up process so much easier!

I think I need a nap.
