Vermont Trip 2011 Eposide #3
The events in this post are in backwards order, I did not feel like making them in order.
Oliver asleep in the car on the way back from the Joseph Smith Memorial in Sharon, VT. We put Parley in charge of keeping him awake but alas, he was not strong enough for the sleep deprived Oliver!
Sharon, Vermont is the birthplace of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Jr. It was cool to see where he was born. The actual cottage they lived in is no longer there, but there is a visitor's center with couple missionaries giving insights into the early life of the prophet.

Group hugs are the best!

The Joseph Smith Memorial is 38.5 feet tall, the age the Prophet was when he died.
A tired Oliver!
Isn't Lizzie just the cutest!
Oliver was playing with the cooler and I convinced him it would be funny to sit IN the cooler! I was right!
These brothers love their little sister!
Movie night! We had popcorn and watched the Tale of Despereaux. Fun times!
Sleepy girl!
She found her thumb at just a few days old! She now has a "sucker" or binky that she sucks on. I think thumb sucking is not as preferred...just ask Parley about his thumb...
At Billings Farm we learned about milking cows and making cheese and butter and yarn and all sorts of fun things. Did you know that people used to put carrots in the cheese to turn in orange? That probably made the cheese a little bit better for them!
I love this picture! The woman is the ultimate multi-tasker: She's churning butter with one hand, reading her book with the other all the while feeding the cat!
Parley was fascinated by the animal treadmill. People used to hook up their animals to a treadmill to help them with powering their machines! Parley thought it would be a good idea to set up a treadmill in their house because then he could run and run and run!
Some of the horses out in the field!
Me with Jim and Joe! Oliver liked them so much he kept asking about Jim and Joe for the rest of my time in Vermont!
A calf! This one was about a week old!
A momma! These cows are huge! I've never actually been close enough to a cow before to realize how large they actually are! Wow! Talk about a small feeling!
There's the Jacob I know and love!
Oliver found a new game!
Jacob and Parley learning the games of the early settlers.
Oliver in the tree! I helped him up! Sorry to everyone else who then had to fight with him to keep him out of the tree!
Apparently the tree is a horse! Giddy-up!
I loved climbing trees as a little girl, I think it's good for kids to get outside and enjoy the fun things in life!
